Cheribundi Review and Giveawy

One of the first blogs I started reading that is about running is Running, Loving, Living.  The writer is Toni and she actually lives very close to me so I was instantly hooked seeing someone write about races I was doing and running some of the same roads.  Awhile back she started talking about Cheribundi.  Cheribundi is a tart cherry juice.  I tried it once or twice and loved it.  It is super tart and tastes just like cherries.  I have never met a fruit I didn't like (Except tomatoes and avacados but in my world those are veggies) and when a juice tastes exactly like the fruit it is a bonus.  Unfortunately for awhile unless I went to Whole Foods I had a hard time finding it.  It is getting much easier to find it lately and that is a very good thing.

A few weeks ago (OK 2 months ago) Toni contacted me and asked me if I wanted her to get me in contact with them to do a 7-day challenge and blog about it.  I of course said HECK YEAH!  A couple of days after that I came home to this wonderful site!

Inside there were 10 bottles of juice 2 of each flavor.  Score!

Why Cherries?  I took the following direct from their web site:

Cherry benefits

What's Inside

Fifty Cherries: Our Tru Cherry™ juice packs fifty cherries into a short 8oz bottle. (We know because we counted them.) From there we add just enough water and apple juice to make it palate-perfect. Of course, to create the benefits of Skinny Cherry™ we decrease the cherries slightly and sweeten with natural Stevia. To get the benefits of Whey Cherry™ into a bottle, we add whey protein.
Freshness: Our cherry juice is freshly pressed from whole cherries. Other cherry juices are made from concentrate once a year and then stored for months before being turned back into juice. Not cheribundi™, though. Cherries in the morning - great tasting juice in the bottle that same afternoon! That's why it tastes so darn fresh.
Phytonutrients: These are the building blocks in fruits and vegetables, so they're good for you. They help plants grow and regenerate cells properly and they just may help regulate physiological functions in human, too. Cherries have a powerful combination of these nutrients, which provides more benefits than any other fruit or other good-for-you foods like tea, wine and other juices. Whether you're looking for anthocyanins, melatonin, phenolic acids, flavanoids/flavonols/flavanols (however you say or spell them), science is starting to show that many of these phytonutrients may have special properties. Some may reduce oxidative stress and fight free radicals while others may act like anti-inflammatories and yet others may hold a promise for better heart health. Of course, all the claims in the world wouldn't be as convincing as if you tried our juice and experienced the benefits for yourself!
Vitamins and Minerals: Your mom was right, you need vitamins and minerals. But not because she said so. You need them because they are the foundation to a strong immune system and enhance metabolic processes. In cheribundi™ you'll find Vitamin A, Potassium, Iron, Calcium and, in Whey Cherry™, muscle-growing B-Vitamins!
High ORAC Rating: The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity rating for cheribundi™ is higher than other juices - that means our juice has a better ability to absorb and neutralize free radicals. Whether you're exercising or resting, cheribundi™ is working hard for you!

I had a cold and was suffering from really bad shin splints and I wanted to do this while I was running so I had to put it off for a little while.  This was not easy I just wanted to drink them all.  2 weeks ago I finally started drinking my juice.  The bottles seem small but for some reason they are just the perfect amount of juice for after a run.  Now I know the label says tart but just so you know it really is taaarrrtttt!  They all tasted the same to me with the exception of the Restore which was just a bit less tart.  It has vanilla in it so I think that is part of it.  The Rebuild also had a bit of a after taste which I think is because it has whey in it.

The descriptions below are from their web site:

Cherry Juice = Packed with 50 cherries and lightly sweetened with apple juice for a blast of healthy cherry goodness.

It really tasted like I was drinking cherries.  I love it!!

Cherry Juice Light =  Gently sweetened with natural extracts of the Stevia plant for a blast of healthy cherry goodness with 1/3 less calories.

I normally am not a fan of anything that is sweetened with anything other than actual sugar but I did not taste any difference between this and the regular juice.

Cherry Rebuild = Loaded with tart cherry benefits and topped off with added whey protein providing natural rebuilding power for active bodies

I will for sure continue to buy this one most just because I honestly felt like my recovery was so much quicker after a run and I was noticeably less sore the next day.

Cherry Restore = All the tart cherry benefits for your body plus electrolytes and B-vitamin complex to put back what your work-out used up.

If I just drink water after a run I tend to get a headache and I think the electrolytes in this helped avoid that without having to drink Gatorade which KILLS my stomach.  I will also always have this one in the fridge.

Cherry Relax = The naturally occurring Melatonin in tart cherries plus L-theanine, extracted from tea leaves, combine to promote peaceful recuperative sleep and sharpen you for your next day's challenges

Now with this one I didn't know what to expect, the cherries in the other juices helped me with energy but, not the first bottle but the next day when I drank the second one I was doing homework and maybe I was just tired but I fell asleep and my husband couldn't wake me for me to go upstairs and I slept the night on the couch.  I can't say forsure if it was the juice but I am more than willing to keep trying :)

Long story short (I know....too late) I LOVE this juice.  I only have two "cons" and they are miniscule. The first is that it is not the cheapest juice around and not that easy to find (yet?) near me on Long Island and the second is that it seemed to make me a bit gassy.  I had tummy bubbles and was a bit fart-y I won't lie.  Not to the point that I won't drink it but it was noticeable.  I share my office with two others and had to walk out a few times a day LMAO!!!

They have other flavors and I really want to try the refresh juices which are cherry juices mixed with other juices and of course the tea lover wants to try their teas!!!!

Now here is the part you have all been waiting for...Cheribundi is AWESOME and has offered a case of juices to one of my readers!!!!!

There is an awesome way to try out Cheribundi even if you do not win the free case.  Take the Cheribundi 7-day Challenge!!!  check out this link!

  2. I definitely don't need cherry relax! I can't keep my eyes open past 9 pm! I wish they had "Cherry Stay Up So You Can Watch The Little Couple at 10 pm" juice! Since that's not listed, I'd like to try Cherry Light, since I'm watching every calorie, sort of.
